Welcome

IHN (Information Health Network) was founded by Lanny L. Johnson, M.D. in 1982 for the purposes of developing a computerized medical record as an adjunct to his orthopedic surgical practice known as Benevolent Dictator. The data, carefully collected over the years, is the basis for developing KneeProblem.com and FreeKneeDx.com.

Benevolent Dictator is comprehensive in its approach of addressing the orthopedist's computerized patient medical record. From patient history to physical exam and operative report, the software compiles a complete patient record, generates reports, and allows for immediate retrieval of information. The Benevolent Dictator software system addresses the Evaluation and Management reporting requirements and allows outcome studies to be simply produced.

KneeProblem.com offers an alternative solution for Internet users wishing to learn about the possible condition(s) causing their knee-joint problem. KneeProblem.com is a clinical diagnostic questionnaire for Internet users seeking solutions to their knee problem. The KneeProblem.com software predicts the presence or absence of surgical indications and also produces a list of probable and possible diagnoses, including the specific reliability of each result. KneeProblem.com is the first in a series of unique clinical instruments designed to assist Internet users in making informed choices about their medical care.

FreeKneeDx.com is a cost effective marketing tool for health care providers. FreeKnee websites are created for sponsors to provide a public service that enables prospective patients to quickly and accurately obtain an unbiased evaluation of their knee problem for free.

Dr. Johnson is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon, one of the pioneers in arthroscopic surgery. He recently was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Michigan Orthopedic Society's Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is an inventor, holding over 40 U.S. and foreign patents related to surgery. The most notable was the co-invention of the motorized instrumentation used daily worldwide, even now, more than 30 years later. The longevity of this invention is unprecedented in surgery.

After Wayne State College of Medicine, he interned in surgery and completed his orthopedic surgical residency at Washington University Barnes Hospital, St. Louis Missouri. He had specialty training in hand surgery under Joseph H. Boyes, M.D. at Los Angeles Orthopedic Hospital.

He served in the United States Air Force Medical Corps as an orthopedic surgeon at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH.

He was in private practice of orthopedic surgery in East Lansing, MI for more than 30 years. He is author of numerous scientific articles and several textbooks. He is a popular lecturer.

He was founder of an orthopedic surgical company he held for 20 years and subsequently sold to large international company in 2002.

Now retired from clinical practice since 1995, he is devoted to research and development in medicine.

Andrew Pittsley is IHN's software architect. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering at Michigan State University in 1987. He has been developing computer software since 1979.

Andrew has been instrumental in the development of IHN's software since 1983 and has been involved in a number of medical research projects.

Dr. Johnson and Andrew Pittsley were visionaries when they collaborated on development of Benevolent Dictator EMR in the mid 1980's. This obvious solution to efficiency in medical practice still has not been embraced by the profession. Having collaborated on multiple investigations and resultant publications they now have developed FreeKneeDx.com. This is a public service sponsored by health care providers that enables the prospective patient to quickly and accurately in the comfort of their home or office obtain an unbiased evaluation of their knee problem. This novel method is not only legal in USA and credible, but free to the public. These two men are still working to make a difference.
